Golf Course Descriptions
Turnberry – Venue of 4 Open Championships the most memorable being the great Watson v Nicklaus head to head in 1977 or has that been surpassed by 2009? The magnificent Ailsa course and sister Kintyre course offer breathtaking views over Turnberry Bay. Rated in the top 20 golf courses in the world, the courses are only available to hotel guests. Ailsa 6408yds sss 71
Gleneagles PGA Centenary Course – The PGA Centenary Course, home of the 2014 Ryder Cup and created by Jack Nicklaus, is a modern classic. Even for a champion and acclaimed golf architect like Nicklaus, The PGA Centenary Course was a challenge. It had to be a great course and, set as it is in the heart of Scotland, the country that gave the world golf, Nicklaus described the course as “The finest parcel of land in the world I have ever been given to work with”.
Carnoustie – Hosted 2007’s exciting Open Championship but will probably be better remembered for 1999 when Jean Van De Velde came unstuck at the final hole forfeiting a 3 shot lead. The narrow fairways and high rough which that Championship was remembered for are now no longer such feature and Visitors can look forward to a beautifully conditioned course where accuracy is rewarded but poor course management exposed.
New Course, St Andrews – This is a fine traditional links which runs adjacent to the Old and many consider is more difficult. It is a British Amateur Championship venue and over 100 years old – so not so new!
Old Course, St Andrews – It is essential for all keen golfers to make a pilgrimage to play this fine old links at least once in their life. To play the course you must possess handicap certification and a maximum handicap of 24 for Gents and 36 for Ladies. We can source these times which would ensure you secured guaranteed tee times well in advance of your arrival. They are sold as a package which includes a round on the Old and New course. The sooner you plan your tour the more likely that we can access such times.
